A rare statue of the joined Tibetan Deities Yab-yum (in Tibetan "father-mother"). The statue represents the primordial union of wisdom and compassion, depicted as a male deity in union with his female consort. The male figure represents power and skill, while the female represents compassion and insight. United, the figures symbolize the union necessary to overcome evil and obstacle. No details were omitted on this finely made statue. The male is depicted in a beast like form, carrying an elephant on his back, wearing a crown with horns and three tiers of deities and skulls. In addition to the 2 main arms that are embracing the female, he has 2 rows, totally 32 arms flanking the body, each holding a weapon or a scepter. An elaborate lotus base features animals and reclining followers. The female wears a crown and jewels, and holds a scepter in each of her hands. A truly special piece.
