An exquisite antique Chinese card box crafted from gilded solid copper, finely decorated with colorful raised enamel in cobalt blue, emerald green, turquoise, and coral red. The lid features the Eight Auspicious Buddhist Symbols on seafoam colored, textured background: the Parasol, Golden Fish, Treasure Vase, Lotus Flower, Conch Shell, Endless Knot, Victory Banner, and Dharma Wheel, representing prosperity, wisdom, harmony, and good fortune. Intricate floral scrollwork and brilliant blossoms adorn all four sides, complemented by the warm patina of aged rose gold color of copper. The hinged box opens to reveal a gilded interior with two compartments, originally designed to hold playing cards. On the hinge is a pair of tiny refined rosettes of plum blossom, another detail that reflects the maker's artistry and heart of romance. Resting on four rounded feet, this finely crafted piece is both a functional antique and a beautiful, auspicious collectible that serves to protect and bring good fortune.
