The elephant-headed Hindu deity of wisdom and success is portrayed in a traditional seated posture featuring a contoured trunk, large stylized ears, and a tiered ceremonial crown. Uniquely, the deity sits ensconced within a fully realized architectural stepped temple shrine, topped by a delicately carved ceremonial umbrella that serves as a traditional symbol of spiritual royalty and divine protection. At his feet, two little mice—his traditional animal vehicle (vahana) symbolizing the conquering of desire and obstacles—flank each side of the lower pedestal. The structured frame arching over the figure features meticulous incised detailing along its borders, flanking smaller relief figures carved directly into the side pillars, while the squared monolithic base is embellished with elegant floral scrollwork engraving.
